The FiP Participation and Engagement Officer alongside the WCF Parent Engagement Advisor SEND (All Age Disability (0-25)), were invited to present at the SENCO Network Conference on 14 June 2023, focusing on Parent Carer School Engagement.
Held at the prestigious Worcester Cricket Ground and led by Dr. Louisa Jones, Principal Educational Psychologist and Head of Inclusion Support Services (All Age Disability (0-25)), we shared Parent Carer experiences, thoughts, and ideas on how to improve engagement within the school environment. The main focus was on the ‘similarities and difference’ of the wider school and SEND community AND why our SEND parent carers often require a different approach for successful engagement. We discussed why some approaches work better than others and offered time for the SENCo’s and other SEND staff to reflect on how inclusive their school practice really was.
We received 100 valuable feedback forms sharing what was working well and what schools want to do to be fully inclusive.
