Following completion of the Delivering Better Value in SEND Programme (DBV), opportunities have been identified that will drive high quality outcomes for Children and Young People in Worcestershire with special educational needs and disabilities. The programme will have three high impact areas of focus.
- Redesign the Early Years and primary SEND system whilst improving clarity on Worcestershire’s SEND offering and achieving better outcomes for children.
- To establish clear practice for the writing and reviewing of EHCPs and ensure that ordinarily available provision is clear and understood. As well as increasing support to schools to enable more children to be supported in mainstream. This will increase inclusion in secondary schools and avoid unnecessary escalations. This will ensure that we achieve better outcomes for children and young people.
- To establish a standard, supportive approach to SEN transitions into Post 16 & FE to increase the number of CYP supported in mainstream and ensure that all options and outcomes are clearly communicated.
Implementation of the DBV programme will be between September 2023 and March 2025.
